We first meet Gwaine at a tavern brawl where he was wounded and brought to Camelot. Although he didn’t like it at first, he decided to stay, only to be banished by Uther because he attacked Sir Ethan and Sir Oswald who, as we learned, were not knights at all.
During a mêlée, he and Arthur defeat the so-called knights, but Uther was relentless and refused to lift the banishment.
Finally, in the episode The Coming of Arthur, was Gwaine dubbed Knight of Camelot by Arthur, only to tragically die in The Diamond of the Day.

In Arthurian mythology, Gwaine (or Gawain) is the son of King Lot and Arthur’s sister Morgause. After the death of King Lot, Gawain became king of Orkney, and also one of the most loyal knight of the Round Table. His brothers are Agravain, Gaheris, Gareth and Mordred.
He appears in many Arthurian tales, notably in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, a late 14th century tale. Gawain is also known as The Maidens’ Knight, a defender of women.
In Merlin, Gwaine is portrayed by the Irish actor, film maker, model and author Eoin Macken. He directed movies like Cold, The inside and The Fashion of Modelling. Eoin is currently starring in the series Night Shift, and has recently published his debut novel: Kingdom of Scars.

ah yes, Sir Gwaine! I think we all fell in love with Gwaine from the minute he stood up for "our boys" in the tavern! I think that was enforced when Gwaine was the one who voiced the words about what really makes someone noble; what did he say? “If there's one thing I've learnt from my father's life it's that titles don't mean anything, it's what's inside that counts.”

From that moment on I think we all identified with Gwaine... a great character. Have to say it was awful how he died in the end too. I just don't think that would have happened either. I want a different ending where Gwaine is still alive too too, along with Arthur ! sigh.
