Colin Morgan in Radio Play "Good Omens"

Colin Morgan in Radio Play "Good Omens"

Most of us have heard that Colin is in this radio play.. here's a link to the Radio Times article which talks about it further:

http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2014-10- ... eil-gaiman

and I have copied the article below. I am personally looking forward to listening to this. I think not many people listen to plays on the radio.. before tv, that's what everyone did! It's actually rather interesting because you have to use your imagination as you do when reading a book to imagine what the character looks like... and there's a lot more scope for our own imaginations. Of course we all know what Colin looks like.. but it's amazing how much the actors can create the atmosphere and energy just through words.

Colin Morgan on Good Omens: " It’s an honour to perform the work of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman"

The adaptation of the fantasy novel will air on Radio 4 this Christmas - and one eager fan will be in the cast

Plenty of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett fans are excited about the upcoming radio adaptation of the authors’ joint novel Good Omens – but it turns out one of them is actually in the cast.

“I’ve always been a fan of Terry Pratchett, I think he’s great,” Colin Morgan (who plays Newt in the fantasy comedy) told RadioTimes.com. “So when Good Omens came along it was a bit of a no-brainer for me. “

“I’ve always felt this about Terry’s books and Neil’s books – they’re an absolute pleasure to read personally, but I think they’re just an honour and a privilege to get the chance to perform professionally.”

Also starring Mark Heap, Peter Serafinowicz, Sherlock’s Louise Brealey and Fresh Meat’s Charlotte Ritchie, Good Omens follows the attempts of an angel and a demon to save the world from the antichrist – but all is not as it seems.

It was written by Gaiman and Pratchett in 1990, and became a bestseller that remains popular to this day – and while the authors haven’t had too big a role in the radio adaptation (Gaiman has pitched in with the scripts), they will be popping up in cameos.

“Neil was at the read-through, so I met him there,” Morgan confirmed. “Terry isn’t able to travel as much, but his cameo has been recorded.”

And despite the touchy religious subject matter, Morgan is convinced the radio drama will fit in perfectly in the Christmas schedules.

“It’s a story about the antichrist," he said. "There’s nothing more festive than that!”

I've read the book (sub-titled The nice and accurate prophesies of Agnes Nutter, witch) some years ago, and it it hilarious! Alomst 400 pages of great and comedic writing from two absolute masters of the genre.
Not long ago though I've read Colin would me reading the part of Aziraphale, and now it's Newt? Whatever part it is, I'm sure it will be a delight to hear it.
Has anyone else read the book? Please share your thoughts.
For the love of Camelot!

Good Omens Confirmed in Radio 4 Christmas Schedule

BBC Radio 4 has today announced when audiences will be able to hear the much anticipated first ever dramatisation of Sir Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s cult classic, Good Omens.

The six-part adventure, Good Omens, will begin with a special double-bill on Monday 22nd December at 11.00pm and culminate in an apocalyptic hour-long episode on Saturday 27th December.

To mark the announcement, BBC Radio 4 has released a very special clip from the programme, starring none other than the co-authors Neil Gaiman and Sir Terry Pratchett. The charismatic demon Crowley (played by comedian and actor Peter Serafinowicz - Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Shaun of the Dead) is late for an appointment to meet the Duke of Hell and the police, played by Neil and Terry, are on his tail and about to get more than they bargained for…

To accompany the programme there will also be a series of illustrations from graphic artists, including the depictions of Neil and Terry seen in the clip by Si Gurr. Fans can head to http://www.bbc.co.uk/goodomens to see more. As the drama develops additional illustrations, clips, teasers and photos will be added to the site.

The apocalyptic audio drama has a cast including Mark Heap (Spaced, Green Wing, Stardust), Colin Morgan (Merlin, The Fall), Josie Lawrence (Skins, EastEnders), Clive Russell (Game of Thrones, Ripper Street), Julia Deakin (Spaced, Hot Fuzz), Louise Brealey (BBC’s Sherlock), Charlotte Ritchie (Fresh Meat, Siblings), Simon Jones (Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy), Arsher Ali (Four Lions, Complicit, Beaver Falls) and Phil Davis (Silk, Whitechapel, Being Human) - to name but a few.

The best Christmas 2014 TV and radio
Good Omens (Radio)
The first ever adaptation of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s 1990 comic apocalypse novel, Good Omens. With a wide cast of characters including angels, demons, witches, witch finders, Satanic nuns, the horsemen of the apocalypse, and a gang of eleven year olds with a secret at their heart, this one is perfect for radio. The voice cast looks terrific, too, and includes Mark Heap, Peter Serafinowicz, Colin Morgan, Paterson Joseph, Josie Lawrence, Charlotte Ritchie and Louise Brealey.
When’s it on? The six-part series starts at 11pm on Monday 22nd and continues daily until Saturday 27th of December, BBC Radio 4.
